On
May 10, 2010 the
FCC granted SHIPCOM the authority to provide Emergency
Responders with HF backup communication service for use
when normal communication (VHF radio, land lines, cell
phones, internet and satellite) are overloaded, out of
range, or disrupted.
SHIPCOM’S
Emergency Responder HF Service:
SHIPCOM’S
HF communication service will provide professional operator
support 24/7, HF training, HF testing and vital communication
links to the “outside world” when all other forms
of communication are overloaded or otherwise unavailable.
SHIPCOM
operators are NIMS ICS-100, 200, 700, 800 certified.
During
emergencies, when normal communications are either overloaded
or disrupted; Emergency Responders equipped with an HF radio
and suitable modem will be able to access SHIPCOM’S
voice and data channels, including E-mail, from fixed or
mobile installations.
Backup
systems must be tested on a regular basis to be certain the
equipment is working properly and the users know how to
operate the equipment. The SHIPCOM service provides for
monthly testing.
SHIPCOM’S
new Emergency Responder HF radio service is easy to deploy
and easy to use.
SHIPCOM’S
technical staff stands ready to help in the selection and
deployment of HF Radio Equipment.

Pursuant
to the FCC Waiver granted to SHIPCOM, Emergency Responders
are eligible to use SHIPCOM’S Maritime HF frequencies
for emergency communications, training and testing of HF
equipment.

SHIPCOM’S
SMART NETWORK PLATFORM (SNP) provides an elegant
solution to what has been called the "radio
interoperability problem".
The
SNP solution connects in range non-compatible wireless
and wired communications devices used by emergency
responders without requiring changes in any of the
currently used radio systems.
Shared
channels, private conversations and conferences are
set-up on the fly by an operator or dispatcher using
the proprietary SNP console designed to maximize
communication throughput.
To
establish a connection between two or more radio
systems, telephones, cell phones, VOIP circuits or any
other voice communication system, the SNP operator
simply clicks icons on the console screen.
The
SMART NETWORK PLATFORM is based on proven telephone
company central office technology. The heart of the SNP
is a customized, redundant, carrier grade central
office switch. Unlike IP based systems, SNP is immune
to denial of service attacks.
